 Daniel Pereira Gonzalez

Daniel Pereira Gonzalez was born in Galicia, Spain where he received the “Superior Diploma” in Piano with highest honors, and in 1998 was awarded the Special Prize in Piano Performance granted by the Conservatorio Profesional de Ourense. Continuing his studies he went on to receive a performance diploma from the Escola Juan Pedro Carrero de Barcelona.

In February 2001, Mr. Pereira received a scholarship from the Hartt School of Music, at The University of Hartford, CT, where he pursued his piano studies with Luiz de Moura Castro. In May 2006 Daniel graduated from The Hartt School with his Master of Music in Piano Performance. While at The University in 2004, he was granted the special award Moses Haltzmark and Hartt Alumni Award. He was also a recipient of Evelyn B. Storrs Scholarship on two occasions.

Mr. Pereira has participated in Piano Festivals and Master Classes in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Brazil and the United States where he performed as soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared on TV, in "Baiona, un veran real", broadcast by TVE-2.

He founded the Piano Friends Society in Spain and was the Artistic Director of the International Piano Festivals Conde de Gondomar from 2000 to 2005, where he participated as performer and lecturer.

Daniel also performed with Brazilian oboist Dr.Cleobaldo Chianca, Italian clarinetist Giancarlo Bazzano and in 2006 toured Spain, including the Canary Islands with his Duo Cuatro Manos in which he collaborates with Russian pianist Maria Bessonova. He made his New York City debut with renowned oboist Humbert Lucarelli in December 2007.

Daniel’s deep commitment to the Piano has led him to an in intense study of the rich history of the numerous international schools of Piano Performance and Technique and he has lectured on this subject.

Mr. Pereira has performed in the Santa Cecilia Music Festival at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Hartford, CT. He earned an Artist Diploma in Piano Performance at SUNY Purchase under the guidance of Paul Ostrovsky in May 2009.  At this school, he attended seminars with professors Steve Lubin and Bradley Brookshire.

In the summer 2008, Mr. Pereira played a series of concerts in his native country Spain and he also performed at the Summerpiano Music Festival at Purchase College. Daniel performed a series of concerts with the
Purchase Dance Corps, in choreography by dance pioneer Bella Lewitzky. Recently, Daniel’s playing was heard on classical music station WQXR (New York City), performing music by Alberto Ginastera.  The Music Conservatory at State University of New York has recently chose Daniel to perform in a masterclass for Garick Ohlson and Seymour Lipkin.

Daniel has also received intensive training in Alexander Technique in New York City with professor Michael Ostrow.

Mr. Pereira was appointed co-director of the
Vianden International Music Festival 2009, held in Luxembourg. Daniel also performed during this event.

Currently, Mr. Pereira is pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Maryland, where he has performed at the Schumann Bicentennial Music Festival and with the University of Maryland Wind Orchestra as well as teaching two courses of class piano.
